Withdrawal Policy
ELLIT is committed to maintaining the integrity, efficiency, and fairness of the scholarly publishing process. Authors are therefore expected to submit manuscripts responsibly and with full commitment to the review and publication process.
General Policy
Manuscript withdrawal is strongly discouraged once a submission has entered the editorial or peer-review process. The review process requires significant time, expertise, and resources from editors, reviewers, and the journal management team.
Authors should ensure that their manuscript:
-
Is not under consideration by another journal
-
Fully complies with ELLIT’s author guidelines
-
Is submitted with the intention to complete the review and publication process
Submitting a manuscript simultaneously to multiple journals or withdrawing a manuscript due to acceptance elsewhere is considered unethical publishing behavior.
Withdrawal During Peer Review
If an author requests withdrawal while the manuscript is under editorial screening or peer review, the request must be submitted in writing, clearly stating the reasons for withdrawal.
ELLIT reserves the right to apply an administrative withdrawal fee to compensate for editorial and reviewer resources already invested. The amount and conditions of this fee will be determined by the Publisher and communicated transparently to the author.
Withdrawal After Acceptance
Withdrawal of a manuscript after acceptance for publication is considered a serious breach of publication ethics, as it disrupts editorial planning and journal scheduling.
If withdrawal is requested after acceptance:
-
The author must submit a formal written request with a clear justification.
-
An administrative withdrawal fee may be imposed by the Publisher.
-
The manuscript will be formally withdrawn only after all administrative obligations have been fulfilled.
Ethical Considerations
ELLIT adheres to the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines in handling manuscript withdrawals. Sanctions, when applied, are proportional, transparent, and intended solely to protect the integrity of the scholarly record.
ELLIT does not support practices such as permanent blacklisting or retroactive removal of previously published articles unless required due to proven ethical violations (e.g., plagiarism or research misconduct).
Exceptional Circumstances
Withdrawal requests may be granted without penalty in exceptional cases, including:
-
Proven ethical issues discovered by the authors
-
Major errors that invalidate the study
-
Legal or institutional restrictions beyond the authors’ control
Such cases will be reviewed individually by the Editorial Board.
Final Note
By submitting a manuscript to ELLIT, authors agree to comply with this withdrawal policy and uphold responsible scholarly publishing practices.
